Saramago Cafe - Let’s go vegan
I used to spend tons of money on shopping. Looking for limited edition stuff like bags, sneakers etcetera. Still love beautiful things which enriches my life, but instead of shopping like a retard I rather check out art, let it inspire me and spend more monies on delicious food. The Centre for Contemporary Arts had most of my favourites. Jewelery made by local artists, prints by local graphic designers, art and a lovely cafe called Saramago.
Crime: Lentil & Roast paprika soup of the day, haggis fritters served with hand cut potato chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce and Fentimans rose lemonade
Scene: Saramago, CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow
Investigation: We were planning to visit the CCA and the students at the Glasgow School of Arts (I was there earlier for a Mackintosh tour) recommended us to lunch at Saramago. An all vegan cafe!
Vegan cooking takes a lot of creativity to make something tasty, without the idea that you aren’t eating meat or dairy and have a full meal. Saramago cafe did a great job with their dishes without giving you the feeling that you are a herbivore.
You can’t go wrong with soup and the soup I had was lovely. But the vegan Haggis fritters were quite something! The vegetarian version without liver or other sorts of meat (don’t want to get more detailed haha) was made of oatmeal, onions, spices and vegetables. Yummay! If there was a Vegan cafe like Saramago in Amsterdam I’d eat here every week and swear of meat haha Even meat lovers can eat their heart out.
If you’re near CCA, have something to eat in the cafe and enjoy the venue!
