Stravaigin - Full U.K. Breakfast
If you don’t know me that well and don’t get why I eat meat, yet be enthusiast about vegetarian food here’s the WHY. First I don’t eat pork, my dairy and meat tolerance is quite bad, need my vegs and when travelling uhm I’d like to play it safe…
Unfortunately I always have to skip the traditional U.K. breakfast because of the bacon, sausage and black pudding. When I’m abroad I’d love to eat local. And today I had a fantastic alternative I’d like to share. The Stravaigin’s full Vegetarian breakfast!

Crime: Vegetarian breakfast with beetroot/ apple juice from Chegworth Valley. My breakfast consisted of a roux based sausage, like a Dutch vegetarian vegetable croquet, baked tomato, sauteed mushrooms, white beans in tomato sauce, two fried eggs and tattie scones (potato pancakes).
Scene: Stravaigin, 28 Gibson Street, Kelvinbridge, Glasgow
Investigation: Got up early in the morning and the sun was rising which gave me more energy to get up and explore Glasgow. I was planning to visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, but wanted to have a Sunday brunch first.
Yesterday, when I was in the Lighthouse at GmbH looking for awesome magazines to read like the Fire and Knives. I had a chat with a guy working there about the Glaswegian lifestyle. For some great food he advised us to check out Stravaign for traditional Scottish cuisine, but already had other dinner plans at Ubiquitous Chip. Their venison haggis was awesome btw.

So, I googled this morning and wanted to find out if Stravaigin served brunch too. Their vegetarian full breakfast caught my attention and I immediately booked a table for two.
The place looked like a traditional pub from the outside and super awesome inside. As a sucker for lovely interior design I fell in love with the place without knowing if my breakfast tasted good.
Cool lamps by the way…

Ok, the verdict. The breakfast was awesome and I think just as good if my sausage was made of veal haha The total experience was lovely. The location, the friendly service, good music, the calm sphere you need on a Sunday and the food. Sitting there just made me smile from the moment I got there until I left the place. A must visit if you like to start your day like this.

Two friendly guys minding their own thing on this beautiful Sunday in Glasgow.
Other things worth to mention. They have good wifi, so bring your iPad :) Stravaigin serves local dishes made of local ingredients, yet has a global mindstate. So now and then they organise themed dinners. Last week they had a Day of the Dead night, once a week an Indonesian Rice table dinner and tomorrow the 7th a Turkish fest with Turkish dishes. Super awesome concept and would like to visit this place again!
