Grosvenor Cinema

One of the things I love as a tourist is to do what the locals do. Go to the cinema! And preferably the art house ones. Just to experience the sphere of a city and its folks. We were planning to check out Ides of March and dine at the Grosvenor Cafe first. A venue with a cafe slash restaurant in the loft of the building, a bar and cinema downstairs.

:
I’ve ordered three small bites for £10,- with oven baked pumpkin, beetroot toped with feta and pumpkin seeds, linguini with seafood and artichoke with mushrooms topped with a hazelnut crust. Strawberry Mash virgin cocktail on the side.
Scene:  Grosvenor, Ashton Lane, Glasgow West End
Investigation: My investigation started on Google. Surfed the place for some reference and found out this cinema is located in a street with a lot of pubs, but didn’t knew yet if it was a street for the tourist or the locals. Please, don’t be sceptical because Grosvenor was a lot of fun.

The Grosvenor cafe designed by Surface ID is awarded with a UK and International Restaurant & Bar Design Award. The designers, who were also responsible for the interior design of Stravaigin, manage to create a warm and cozy place for this cafe with it’s high ceilings.

This location is very ideal to have drinks or a bite before of after a movie. We where quite hungry and wanted a bite first and totally lost track of time. Yep, missed the movie haha The menu has a lot for everybody. The meaties, fishies and the veggies. All global influenced dishes with a touch of local. The overall experience was good, with super service and nice music. Totally not touristic and very local.

If you are interested in another cinema experience near my favourite Glaswegian CitizenM hotel visit the Glasgow Film Theatre with their old school facade for some art house loving’. Unfortunately, we missed out on the last movie of the evening too haha
