Jakarta Underbelly at Struik
Organized monthly by a talented friend Percy and his friend Ffonz, because they missed the taste of Jakarta. So why not bring this experience back? You could find the Soto Ayam with rice and perkedel (Indonesian potato patties) on last editions menu. Mos def different than your local Indonesian joint. For an experience like at our Indonesian birthday parties, just drop by Om Ffonz’s and Percy’s. Keep an eye on their FB page to mark the Jakarta dinners and make a reservation in advance. My kid would have been a hot dog
Yep, if I had a kid. My friends at 290 Square Meters bought kids clothing for in their store after the birth of the owners son. Lovely clothing like Mini Rodini with hot dogs instead of corny cupcake prints. If you’d like your kid to be awesome and yummy, visit my favorite store with whom we started The Foundation. Buonasera Vasso
I visited Italian restaurant Vasso with my sister the other day. We were in the center of Amsterdam walking from Dam Square to an unknown destination. My sis is sometimes more picky than me when it comes to food. Not necessary in how a place looks like, but in a way that you’d like to visit a cool spot where the atmosphere is like you are on a holiday or she rather eat home. I remembered an Italian restaurant a friend Manuela had mentioned. She lived in Italy and mos def knows good food. Vasso near het Spui it is!

Foodware is one of my favorite places for take out with healthy options when you are too tired to cook. The owner and chef Sander makes daily specials with seasonal and local products. A very simple concept: choose your meat, fish, poultry or vegetarian option and two healthy side dishes.

Buying gifts is always a difficult adventure for me. Why? I always get distracted with nice items I’d like to have myself. Frozen Fountain in Amsterdam is one of my favorite stores. One of the relevant places to find beautiful and clever designed items in all price ranges.

Melly’s Cookie bar
Yesterday, I had a-tourist-in-her-own-city- moment with my sister. I live in the centre of Amsterdam and most of the time I avoid eating in the centre. Why? Because it’s poor quality of food targeted to the mass tourist without taste. But still, there are some good spots you need to visit. Just like Melly’s Cookie bar across the awful Magna Plaza behind the Nieuwe kerk, Damsquare.
