Has Bean Coffee

I’ve been drinking decaf since a year know and think that I’m starting to miss the real deal. Totally when I order decaf cappuccino with soy milk. And most of the time I get the honey-just-order-some-tea look…
My new colleague Adam is a barista too and is converting me into drinking the real stuff by telling stories and cool facts about making the perfect espresso. And my curiosity lead to new discoveries!

Cottoncake a new girly joint in town

A friend Sabine decided to treat me for granola at a new place Cottoncake in her and her homeboys Patrick hood. De Pijp in Amsterdam. Situated at the 1e van der Helststraat, which was a dull street crossing the famous Albert Cuyp market about a year ago. Now it’s a lively street with cafe’s, the Croquette joint of Amsterdam van Dobben and Bakkery Brood. And Cottoncake is a nice initiative which contributed to this cosy street too.

Two for Joy
I’ve ‘quit’ drinking coffee, but went back drinking decaf with soy and even tried a cappuchino with goats milk (don’t try this at home). So I’m a fake coffee drinker with a strong passion for Kopi Luwak wanting to go back to the realness. This feeling came back now independent coffee roasters like Two for Joy are poppin’n here in Amsterdam.
Coffee lover or not. Two for Joy offers delicious lunch, pastries, good service from coffee fans and wifi. The lentil soup with lemon and bean soup with cumin and cream fraiche are delicious! An ideal place for business meetings and another scenery change than the desk you are used too.

Bubble blower spoon by Nienke Sybrandy

Two days ago we visited Object Rotterdam 2012. An initiative curated by Anne van der Zwaag to make art and design accessible for design lovers. A way to start collecting brilliant concepts and designs by presenting awesome limited editions objects. I also got to know designer Nienke Sybrandy, because Nalden wrote about her humorous ‘wachtende spijker’. The bubble blower called ‘Homo bulla est(Erasmus’ saying: mankind is just a bubble) was a project she highlighted, sometimes mistaken for a milk wisk haha you can email her and make this clever spoon part of your silverware!

Spanish Coffee Menu

….for Dummies haha Well, I need to explain the coffee menu to you. Cappuccino is served con leche (how most of us drink it, with foamy milk) or con crema (with cream), so you won’t get surprised if you get one with cream if you imagined a coffee with foamy milk. With cream is awesome btw. And I was about to swear off coffee, because I can ‘t deal with caffeine. You know what’s good too?

Melly’s Cookie bar

Yesterday, I had a-tourist-in-her-own-city- moment with my sister. I live in the centre of Amsterdam and most of the time I avoid eating in the centre. Why? Because it’s poor quality of food targeted to the mass tourist without taste. But still, there are some good spots you need to visit. Just like Melly’s Cookie bar across the awful Magna Plaza behind the Nieuwe kerk, Damsquare.

Montgomery’s Coffee House

After our visit to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and checking the Refound pop-up shop out we needed to have something to drink, because we were kind off dehydrating after a two hours walk in the awesome Kelvingrove Museum.
