This guy is awesome

He smokes salmon, eel and trout, real time bebe. You can find him at the better markets haha. I met him at Puremarkt and bought a portion of all three smoked fish for my salad.

You can find this awesome guy on some markets and at Recreation Park ‘t Smallert, the Veluwe where you can catch and smoke your own fish.

I bought some mixed salad with watercress for dinner, threw in some potatoes and made a simple dressing made of
- greek yoghurt
- fresh lemon juice
- garlic
- dill
- salt and peppa

Sorry, I don’t know the measurements. I just throw everything together and taste haha

Puremarkt
This über concept of the organic farmers market travels around the Nederlands.I discovered these Hotties at Park Frankendael earlier today. Made by Sita Danser from Rotterdam. Good on your sandwiches, through your pasta and soups.
If you love some Surinamese or Indian hot stuff, you’ll love the ones with granny smith apple’s, lemon, aubergine or potatoes. I think Sita is going to be my new dealer!
Curious about the good curations of products? Check Puremarkt and try yourself

Millau Market

If you happen to be in the neighborhood of Millau. Enjoying the weather, nature, sporting or the food. Check out their farmers market every Wednesday morning. An ideal place to have breakfast or buy some goodies for a picnic.

Tons of sweet local fruits, honey, jam, quiches, cheeses and breads. All home made and sold by their proud makers from Aveyron.

I recommend the delicious quiches with tomato, jams and South French sweet bread ‘Fouace’ made with orange blossom water. It’s something like the Dutch Duyvekater (sweet white bread made with melted butter, lemon zest and milk). Can’t wait visiting this place again. The French sure know what good food is.

Sunday Market, Bordeaux

I love strolling on markets when I’m abroad and like to be surprised by what people like to share. Their goods, stories and culture. Love the craft and passion.

After surfing the nets on Saturday, I found out that Bordeaux has an awesome farmers market. A nice way, I my opinion, to have breakfast and get to know a city and its locals. So, you won’t find me at the hotel buffet.

For breakfast I treated myself with sourdough bread, good butter, caneles, fresh apple juice and macarons for on the road. To early for oysters man…

Visit Quai des Chatrons, Bordeaux on Sundays :)

Rollende Keukens
Yesterday I dropped by the annual ‘de rollende keukens’ at Westerpark in Amsterdam. Kitchens on wheels, with food from the ‘barby’, dishes like pancakes, dutch poffertjes, mexican food, seafood, cakes etc. A much bigger event than last years, better weather and more crowded! Gezellig!
The atmosphere was a blast and the concept of the event perfect, but expected more good and more variety cuisine. Meatlovers could eat their hearts out, while vegetarians and vegans had to do with less (or amusement from horses, no joke) while the rollende keukens should be THE event where one must get rad when it comes to food.
Had a lovely time tho’ with some oysters w/ red wine vinegar, lemon, finely chopped sjalots. Lobster, punch, filled surinam/hindu bara (fried black urdi/ urad dal/ black lentil bread with tayer leaf) w/ soy sauce chicken, potato and madame jeanette sauce #hit. I still support this event and hope that the event gets bigger and will have a better food selection to offer and not becomming something like ‘De Parade’, just keep the concept to ‘rollin’ kitchens’. A recommendation? Yess. This event as an annual thing to visit? Why? Because It’s gezellig :D If you like more of these events, check out one of my favorites: the Sunday Up Market in London for good snacks and meals. P.s: I’m looking for a good bara recipe to share. So stay tuned :D

Sunday Up Market

This market is also one of the markets of all markets! Friends told me (again) not to eat before visiting the Sunday Up Market. What they didn’t tell me was that you shouldn’t eat cupcakes on an empty stomach haha. Well, what to expect? All cuisines you can imagine!
