Stravaigin - Full U.K. Breakfast

If you don’t know me that well and don’t get why I eat meat, yet be enthusiast about vegetarian food here’s the WHY. First I don’t eat pork, my dairy and meat tolerance is quite bad, need my vegs and when travelling uhm I’d like to play it safe…

Unfortunately I always have to skip the traditional U.K. breakfast because of the bacon, sausage and black pudding. When I’m abroad I’d love to eat local. And today I had a fantastic alternative I’d like to share. The Stravaigin’s full Vegetarian breakfast!

Stamppotje

Crime: Kholrabi, potato and hazelnut mash, pumpkin mash and beef stew on the side
Scene: Stamppotje, Prinsengracht 252, Amsterdam, Nine streets

Worst day ever
I’ve met Samuel Levie when I participated Slow Food’s Youth Food Movement Academy back in 2010. He is one of the most inspiring and passionate people I’ve met with a clear message he’d like to spread, so he began YFM. His goal was to make people conscious about what they bring home into their kitchen and let them ask some questions when they’re in a supermarket, like: Where does my meat or milk come from? What I most appreciate is that he’s very sympathetic in sharing his vision about our current food industry which is focused on mass consumption.
Before I met Samuel he was doing some research with fellow YFm’er Jiri Brandt to make the best Worst (sausage) ever. One with flavour, made with quality ingredients and passion. They visited farmers, butchers and sausage makers in the Netherlands and Italy to learn about this craft and where the best ingredients come from. And now it’s time to share!
Brandt & Levie will organize their first Worst & Cider fest at Amsterdam Roest! Vegetarians are also welcome to join the BBQ. Check their website. I Love their website!Note 28th of August in your calendar and bring your smile :)
