Chocolat!

We took our friend and her twin boys of seven to Brussels. Easy to reach by car and arriving in a place where they speak both Flemish (like Dutch) and French, so the kids could practice their French, sounded good to me. I planned a trip to the Chocolat! exhibition where they could learn more about chocolate. A good excuse for me to check it out too haha You can visit Chocolat! until the 13th of May 2012.

Frozen Fountain selection of sweets

Buying gifts is always a difficult adventure for me. Why? I always get distracted with nice items I’d like to have myself. Frozen Fountain in Amsterdam is one of my favorite stores. One of the relevant places to find beautiful and clever designed items in all price ranges.

Decoy! I want to lure hombre into the kitchen. Will it work?

Kikkerland thinks so. They sell this calculator like their other awesome goodies to make your life more fun. Hopefully this bar will lure Nalden into the kitchen to convert cups into grams and help me make delicious sweets for the weekends. Could use a good looking assistant in the kitchen haha

Sweet Company Was doing groceries at Ekoplaza today and was seduced by this. The label of the pure chocolate coated hazelnuts from Sweet Company sweetened with cane sugar. If you are wondering how it tastes, well. Milk chocolate lovers will love these. As a fan of dark chocolate, being used to the flavor of how pure chocolate taste like (bitter), I think these candies were way to sweet. Had to stop after 2 pieces. Although I appreciate this initiative being organic (something is organic even if its for 95%) and having a cute label, it’s not my thing. It was quiet expensive for what you’ll get, but if these nuts were less sweet I’d consider to buy it again.

Gift tip - Dolfin Chocolate

What do you give your friends who already have everything they desire? Well, from my perspective a good bottle of wine or some delicious chocolate.

Like with the coffee story, I appreciated dark chocolate after eating milk chocolate for years. The moment I reduced eating sugar by not adding it to my coffee or tea I found out that a lot of milk chocolate was just too sweet for me. And reading the labels of my food as a habit, finding out I ate stuff with ingredients I can’t pronounce made me want to try organic, slave free and even raw chocolate.

One of the bars I like is Dutch based Lovechock. Another delicious one with a nice packaging is the Dolfin 70% with choconibs. Valrhona does miracles too!bGift tip y’all. Buy three bars, put a ribbon around it add a bottle of bubbles or red wine will give your friend an awesome time ;)
